Well, my first couple days of the little IMSG camp have been pretty cool… Epic in many ways because my decision and curiosity about Ironman training and racing have been answered. My expectations have already been far exceeded so it is all gravy from here on out…
On the way over to Utah I got to stay in Vegas for a night and hang out with some of the gang. Thursday mornings they usually do the Red Rock Canyon ride but the forecast was calling for 60mph …

It turns out that our waterproof and shock proof camera is not so waterproof and shock proof… I have dropped it countless times and during a swim in Maui it just decided to up and die on us. I was stoked to get the pictures off of it today. Was it really less than a month ago when we were there? The time and miles have just been flying by in the last few weeks.

Yesterday was a great day of R&R. I am seriously humbled by what cool friends i have and the encouragement, prayers and laughs I am getting from everyone. I am not bummed about the race at all. I found perspective and that is exactly why I love racing. Experiencing all the support and gaining a deeper understanding of what exactly my passion for “this” trail time is all about is priceless.
My whiplash, hip and pretty much my entire left side were pretty stiff but getting out of …

It would be a challenge to be stressed about anything in Hawaii…even the airports make you feel at ease from the moment you step off of the plane. Monique and I got to visit Kauai on our second honeymoon over six years ago… I cannot believe we have been married that long and it has taken us a world championship race to get us back to the islands. This has got to be one of the best places on the planet. I could get use to …

I never understood why people say that the Xterra season is so long but I am starting to get what they are all talking about… I raced Xterra Granite Bay in March and I still feel like my biggest red line over the top heart attack race all year was the snowshoe race I did back in February. I think I knocked out about 30 races this year but I don’t feel like I am slowing down. I am ready for Worlds! I am excited and …

This last week has snuck by rather quickly… Last weekend, Monique had a baby shower to host so I headed out to Bonelli with my brother in law (JHar) for the first cyclocross race of the season. I was planning on running support for him and snapping some pics of a few friends out there. . . Check out his boost!
Monique met up with us later in the day and we did end up racing too. TeamDuke was putting on a relay race and we JHar and …

Most of my weekends have been filled with laughter and plenty of time to just enjoy life…actually a lot of my weekdays could fall into that category as well. I am stoked I have such a flexible job that allows me to manage my own time. That is why I really didn’t mind working last weekend for a network security cut-over. It has been a while since I have done one of those and it was a good reminder about the need for details, teamwork and what executing a good …

Deciding not to run at the Santa Barbara triathlon turned out to be a great idea. I am finally getting the volume (the correct frequency and duration) in my running and I can honestly say it has never felt “easier” to sweat it out on two feet. I just finished up a two week build period that was by far the best quality training I have put down all year. Here is a snap shot of what I have been doing since the SB tri

The last few weeks have been FULL for me at work, training and life. Keevin and I often joke about “getting it right” when we are in our sixties. Making the right decisions and perfecting daily time management. Its all about the little things and not sweating the small stuff!
Last weekend, we had a good crew up in Santa Barbara to enjoy “Chucks world” and race some triathlons. A few girls with us did their first ever triathlon and I think they got the bug now… …

In the last 10 days I have logged some of the best training days of my life and I am not even “training” . . . I am so grateful for the sweet single track, cool people and truck loads of fun that I have got to get in. After the Tahoe race and with no future races in view I just started “doing what I felt like” and I was so stoked to see my motivation and strength grow each day. I have had a solid season of …
