IMSG recon. . . take 2

Monique and I just got back from Utah where we got to spend a couple of days with our buddy “Sully” and check out the Ironman St. George course. I got to attend the EC camp last November but never got to see the run course and it was a good time for Monique to see the bike course and ride it on her 3 day old bike.
She opted not to go with that saddle for the new rig

We picked up her bike the day before we left and …

Last, last Saturday(time flies when your having fun), the plan for our St. George training camp group was to get out and ride the bike course and get a feel for pacing and the hills. Looking at the topo elevation on the website you would think it was two laps of a massive out of saddle effort followed by a white knuckle descent. I was relieved to find that there are really only two “real” short hills (more on that later) but the rest of the course is just steady …

Well, my first couple days of the little IMSG camp have been pretty cool… Epic in many ways because my decision and curiosity about Ironman training and racing have been answered. My expectations have already been far exceeded so it is all gravy from here on out…
On the way over to Utah I got to stay in Vegas for a night and hang out with some of the gang. Thursday mornings they usually do the Red Rock Canyon ride but the forecast was calling for 60mph …

Last summer, Sean introduced me to Vitargo and it has been a special “rocket fuel” for me. As many of you know, I have been using Vitargo from GENR8 for some of my most important training days and races all year. I have had the same fueling strategy at every Xterra and Multisport race this year. I have one bottle of nuun and one bottle of Vitargo. I have experimented with mixing one, two and even three scoops (up to 840 calories per bottle) of Vitargo …

Most of my weekends have been filled with laughter and plenty of time to just enjoy life…actually a lot of my weekdays could fall into that category as well. I am stoked I have such a flexible job that allows me to manage my own time. That is why I really didn’t mind working last weekend for a network security cut-over. It has been a while since I have done one of those and it was a good reminder about the need for details, teamwork and what executing a good …

This week feels like a loooong one for me… I did not start feeling the life back in my legs again until Wednesday and I have had a full schedule at work. Just trying to get r done and start the weekend. We have a three day Sales and Engineering conference in Laguna this week for my work and now my brain is zapped just like my legs were from the weekend. I am just lucky I have such a cool job and flexible schedule most of …

With all of the food over the holidays and the joy of my new espresso machine encompassing the majority of my thoughts lately I thought it would be a good time to experiment with some cooking goods. This idea came to me, like most ideas, when I was on the trail and looking for something delicious, nutritious and full of caffeine. I know, I have problems…
The goal behind the brownies (not the other magic brownies) I am preparing is for those long adventure races or times when you …
