I was stoked to be able to chat (via email) with Collin from Triple Threat Triathlon and get some unique questions for an interview and learn more about TTT.
Here is the interview if you want to check it out on their blog  http://triplethreattriathlon.blogspot.com/2013/03/slater-fletcher-dream-crushing-at-its.html

Collin asked for a couple photos so I sent him some race pics from Panama and said he could pull some down from facebook if he wanted more.  I was cracking up when I saw some of the pictures below but it brought back some good memories.  I …

After taking more than a year off triathlon and just focusing on running last year, I did my first triathlon in about 16 months, the Sprint Distance Turkey Tri and followed that up with a half ironman (HITS) the next weekend in December.  What a kick to the balls!  It was good to have a break from tri and the two races allowed me to see where I was at after the end of a big year of running. It also allowed me (forced me) to adapt a new training …

The Wonderland Trail

Last month, I was fortunate enough to join Crew My Run and some friends for a 3 day running trip around Mt. Rainier in Washington on the Wonderland Trail.  What is Wonderland Trail you ask?  I had that same question just a few week prior to the trip and it did not take much research for me to realize this was a trip that I had to find a way to make.  Its a beautiful place and some of the best trails I have ever had the pleasure of running.  Hopefully this gets you …

long weekend and a change of venue for us this time around. With plans all_over_the_map (literally) we decided to stay home, sleep lots and eat really good food. Not much else to complicate things. Getting to spend time with some old friends, make new plans and dream big dreams…all in a good long weekend.
We kicked it off with some bluesails boat time.

Hope you had a fun weekend and are ready for the last few days of summer

home base

The last couple weeks at HOME have been outstanding for me.  Getting to unload from the training block in Boulder and Vineman has given me time to catch up on life stuff, work, rest and friends.  These are the moments I want to remember.  Good times with good friends and good food.  Simple!

turning the page

2010 was a big year for me in many ways and it is just starting to sink in how special of a year it was for me.  While it was a lot more than what I was originally after in the way of sport (crushing my dreams became a reality again and again…) it was also one of the most balanced years of my life across all areas of my life.   The way that a lot of “things” just fell together felt like magic.  I have a huge number of …

Last weekend we had planned to go up and hike Mt. Whitney with some really good friends. Monique and I were keen on a run back to the cars but all bets were off… I never get to cash in on my “wins”anyhow. We even had some killer routes to ride after near Bishop into the Sierras. Some of the climbs there are the real deal! However, we decided to put pull out because we are just starting to catch up from our last …

There has been a lot of change going on in my life over the last couple of weeks…and more on the way. “Change is inevitable. Change is constant”. Some of it driven from myself and some that is much further upstream but I am embracing it as much as I can to influence the drift.
The last few weeks Monique and I have been out on trails and enjoying finding some new routes right in our own backyard. The glow of summer is here but the heat …

IMSG recon. . . take 2

Monique and I just got back from Utah where we got to spend a couple of days with our buddy “Sully” and check out the Ironman St. George course. I got to attend the EC camp last November but never got to see the run course and it was a good time for Monique to see the bike course and ride it on her 3 day old bike.
She opted not to go with that saddle for the new rig

We picked up her bike the day before we left and …

Last, last Saturday(time flies when your having fun), the plan for our St. George training camp group was to get out and ride the bike course and get a feel for pacing and the hills. Looking at the topo elevation on the website you would think it was two laps of a massive out of saddle effort followed by a white knuckle descent. I was relieved to find that there are really only two “real” short hills (more on that later) but the rest of the course is just steady …
