TER Report:  Days 1 & 2 – The Adventure

The Tantauco Exploration Race is a four day stage race in Northern Patagonia on the island of Chiloe just off the southern coast of Chile.  The format of the multisport race would move in a point to point format in camps from Quellon to Chaiguata on the first and third days as we navigated our way ridding, paddling (occasionally swimming) and running to the Inio camp at the southern tip of the island.  A true exploration.  It …

Slater and Paul win it ALL!

Paul and Slater crushed the field.!!! Come from behind win! They made a mistake the first day and killed it today. As of my message from Paul no one else had even finished after they had already showered and freshened up. Pouring rain the entire time. Every piece of gear they have is soaked. They are happy!

Hoping that Day 2 is finished now, but still nothing posted on the site.  Lots of promises but not a lot of information.  I know that the organizers certainly have a lot to do, but its better to say nothing and have alot than to say alot and have nothing.  Here’s another picture (a few more added)… Paul and Slater in the middle of the pack still in their St. Patricks Day Green.

Here’s the latest…
Race starts tomorrow… Start – 90k bike, 28k lake paddle and 12k bush run.
The bush is supposed to be THICK! I mean THICK… 1k/hr thick.  Sounds fun!
Pre-race night…pouring race…hoping for a little clearing in the a.m.
Paul and Slater feeling good.  Some other definitely fast and experienced teams, tomorrow will be a good feel for what’s to come.
Start at 10 a.m. (4 hours ahead of Pacific Time)

February – life in the desert

I spent a lot of time in the desert this February and while some of it was planned there were many unique experiences that were not planned(adventure) but the end result was the same…and simple.  I spent a lot of time wandering in the wilderness this month.  I could not help but reflect about how life in the desert can change your perspective, allow you time to unwind some thoughts and get a lot of work done.  The desert in the winter is a great place to do work and …
